HuskyBIM for Robot Structural Analysis

HuskyBIM for Robot Structural Analysis connects Claude Desktop to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis through the Robot Object Model. With 270 tools you build and edit structures, define loads and Eurocode combinations, calculate, read forces, deflections and reactions, verify and design steel members against EN 1993 with your National Annex, and document the results — in plain language, with Claude seeing the model through screenshots.

Beta, delivered as a Claude Desktop extension (.mcpb). No installer — a thin companion resolves Robot's API from your installation at runtime. Download the extension from your account page, open it in Claude Desktop, enter your token, and keep Robot running with a project open. Tested on Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2027; other versions are untested.

Installation

Download the extension

Sign in to your account page and download HuskyBIM_for_Robot_v0.2.3.mcpb from the Downloads section.

Install in Claude Desktop

Open Claude Desktop. Go to Settings → Extensions and click Install extension. Select the downloaded .mcpb file, or drag and drop it onto the Extensions panel.

Enter your extension token

In the HuskyBIM for Robot Structural Analysis extension settings, enter your extension token. Find your token at huskybim.com/account under Extension Token.

Open Robot and start

Start Robot Structural Analysis and open or create a project (Claude can do both). Return to Claude Desktop — the 270 HuskyBIM for Robot Structural Analysis tools are active. Ask for "check the connection to Robot" first.

Project type matters. Robot's Frame 3D and Frame 2D project types allow bars only — Robot refuses to calculate panels (slabs, walls) in them. Ask Claude for a Shell project when you need both bars and panels; the tools tell you when a panel would not be allowed.

Build and load

"Build a two-storey, two-bay steel frame, 6 m bays, 4 m storeys, HEA 200 columns and IPE 300 beams in S 355, fixed at the base. Add self-weight, 10 kN/m live load on the beams and 5 kN wind at the joints."

Combine and calculate

"Generate the Eurocode combinations for consequence class CC2 with the Danish annex, calculate, and show me the bending moment diagram for the governing ULS combination."

Troubleshooting

Tools report "Robot is not running"

Start Robot Structural Analysis (or ask Claude to launch it) and open or create a project. The companion attaches to the running Robot on the same PC.

Calculation fails with "elements not allowed for the selected structure type"

The project type is bars-only (Frame 3D/2D) but the model contains panels. Create the project as Shell (or Plate) instead.

A tool times out and Robot shows a question

Robot asked something that needs a decision (e.g. save changes). Answer it in Robot — the tools show recent dialogs with robot_dialog_log. Purely informational messages are dismissed automatically.

License error on first call

Check that your token is entered correctly in the extension settings. Get it free at huskybim.com/account.
