HuskyBIM for Blender

Connect Claude Desktop (or VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, Codex) to Blender 5.2 on Windows. 103 tools. Claude works in your open Blender window: scenes, modelling, materials, lights, cameras, animation and rendering.

What Claude can do

• Scene: list and inspect objects; create, move, rotate, scale, duplicate and delete them; collections; undo and redo.
• Anything else in Blender: read and set any property by its path, search and run any Blender operator (about 2,500) with typed parameters, run your own Python scripts.
• Modelling: meshes from your own vertex and face data, booleans, mirror, array, remesh, subdivision and smoothing, noise displacement, metaballs, and edit-mode operations such as extrude, inset and bevel.
• Look: materials, lights, world, cameras, render settings, viewport views and screenshots. Renders come back as pictures.
• Animation: frame range and keyframes for location, rotation and scale.
• Files: open, save, append and link from other .blend files; import and export OBJ, STL, PLY, FBX, glTF, USD, Alembic, Collada and SVG; a report of missing external files.
• IFC (BIM): open, inspect, edit and save IFC2X3, IFC4 and IFC4X3 files; create walls, slabs, columns, beams, doors and windows cut into walls, rooms and storeys, with property sets, materials, types and base quantities; turn Blender meshes into IFC elements and show IFC models in Blender.
• Realistic look: free CC0 textures and skies from Poly Haven at real-world scale, procedural brick, tiles, wood, concrete and plaster, the true sun position for a place and time, and one-step draft or final renders.
• Point clouds and scan to BIM: import laser scans (E57, LAS/LAZ, PLY, PTS/XYZ, Leica PTX), turn them into coloured meshes, and find walls, floors, ceilings, columns, doors and windows in a scan to build them as IFC elements.

How it works

HuskyBIM's part inside Blender is a small Blender extension written in C++ that talks to Blender directly. Every change is one undo step in Blender. Blender's own warnings and errors come back in each answer, misspelt names and parameters come back with suggestions, and long calls become jobs instead of time-outs.

Install

• Claude Desktop: download the extension (.mcpb) from your account page and drag it into Claude Desktop → Settings → Extensions; paste your token.
• Other AI apps: run the Windows installer (.exe). It sets HuskyBIM up for Claude Desktop, VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code and Codex.
• The first time Claude starts HuskyBIM, it installs its extension into Blender 5.2 by itself. Restart Blender once afterwards. When HuskyBIM is updated while Blender is open, restart Blender to load the new version.

Windows shows a warning the first time you run the installer

HuskyBIM is signed by HuskyBIM itself, not by a certificate authority, so Windows does not know the publisher yet.

In Edge or Chrome: if the download bar says the file "isn't commonly downloaded", choose Keep.

When you run the installer, Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. The installer is the file you just downloaded from huskybim.com, and nothing else runs.

Good to know

• Requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and Blender 5.2 LTS from blender.org (the Windows installer or the zip). Free with a HuskyBIM account.
• Other Blender versions are not supported yet: HuskyBIM checks the version and stays off. Steam and Microsoft Store builds are untested and may lack the file blender.pdb that HuskyBIM needs from the build on blender.org.
• Scan to BIM gives a first draft to check against the scan. Walls scanned from one side only get an assumed thickness, and parts the scanner did not see cannot be found.
• IFC support is built on IfcOpenShell (LGPL); its licence and the other third-party notices ship with the extension.
• Your scene stays on your computer. HuskyBIM only checks your account at huskybim.com.
• Blender is a registered trademark of the Blender Foundation. HuskyBIM is independent and not affiliated with the Blender Foundation.
