HuskyBIM for AutoCAD
HuskyBIM for AutoCAD connects Claude Desktop to Autodesk AutoCAD 2026 and 2027 through a native connector — 386 tools that draw, edit, measure and read your drawing in plain language, no LISP or scripting required. One connector covers AutoCAD and every vertical: Architecture, MEP, Electrical, Map 3D, Mechanical, Plant 3D and Raster Design.
Requirements
• Autodesk AutoCAD 2026 or 2027 — including the verticals: AutoCAD Architecture, MEP, Electrical, Map 3D, Mechanical, Plant 3D and Raster Design
• Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
• Claude Desktop — download at claude.ai/download
• Free HuskyBIM account — sign up
Installation
Download the installer
Sign in to your account page and download HuskyBIM_for_AutoCAD_v1.0.exe from the Downloads section.
Run the installer
Run HuskyBIM_for_AutoCAD_v1.0.exe. No administrator rights are needed. The installer copies the connector files, installs Node.js if needed, and configures the Claude Desktop extension automatically.
Enter your account email
When prompted, enter the email address for your free HuskyBIM account. The installer validates your account and finishes setup.
Restart AutoCAD and Claude Desktop
Open AutoCAD (2026 or 2027, or any vertical) with a drawing, then restart Claude Desktop. The HuskyBIM for AutoCAD extension will appear with all 386 tools ready.
What you can do
HuskyBIM for AutoCAD covers 386 tools — 357 core operations that run on AutoCAD 2026 and 2027 (and every vertical), plus 29 Map 3D / GIS operations that require AutoCAD Map 3D 2027:
• 2D drawing & editing — create and modify lines, arcs, circles, polylines, splines, text and dimensions; hatch and fill regions; move, copy, rotate, mirror, scale, offset and trim; manage layers, blocks and xrefs
• 3D modelling — build regions, solids and surfaces; extrude, loft and boolean; place 3D faces; read solid properties and mass properties
• Layouts & plotting — create and manage layouts, viewports and named views; drive plot settings and output to the plotter or PDF
• Quantity takeoffs — sum areas and lengths across a selection, and generate a full drawing summary of entity counts by type and layer
• Plant 3D project reads — read line numbers, equipment, valves and nozzles straight from the project .dcf databases; follow P&ID ↔ 3D relations, line components and pipe-network connections
• Map 3D FDO / GIS — read and write GIS feature data via FDO; full CRUD on SQLite and GeoPackage data stores; spatial (bounding-box) queries, counts, bounds and distinct-value lookups
• Mechanical — read the bill of materials and GD&T / dimensioning data from AutoCAD Mechanical drawings
• Raster Design — attach and adjust raster images; vectorise raster geometry into native AutoCAD lines; run OCR to extract text from scanned drawings
Example workflows
On a new layer called "Walls", draw a 6000 by 4000 rectangle, offset it inward by 150, add a dimension along the bottom edge and place a text label "Office" in the centre.Sum the total area of all closed polylines on the "Paving" layer, and give me a drawing summary of how many entities there are by type and layer.Open the Plant 3D project, list the line numbers, then show all components on line 1042 and the P&ID instruments tagged to it.Create a GeoPackage data store, insert three point features with a name attribute, then query the features whose location falls inside this bounding box.Troubleshooting
Ensure AutoCAD is running with a drawing open and that Claude Desktop has been restarted after installation. Check Claude Desktop → Settings → Extensions to confirm HuskyBIM for AutoCAD is enabled.
HuskyBIM for AutoCAD talks to AutoCAD over local port 14261. The connection is only active while AutoCAD is open with a document — start a drawing first, then send your prompt.
If activation fails, a message will appear at the end of installation. Your files are still installed — re-run the installer with the correct email. Contact [email protected] if the issue persists.
